Mr. Dean Wutke, Co-Founder & Course Director:
Dean Wutke has been adventure racing for over seven years competing in some of North America's toughest races. Racing under the Suburban RUSH/Secondwind Adventure Racing team banner, he and his team mates have enjoyed podium success. He has been an avid mountain biker for over fifteen years; he is trained in river kayaking; mountaineering travel & safety; and navigation. Dean has back packed throughout BC and the world including a climb up Chukung Tse in Nepal at 5857 meters. He has also organized single and multiple day outdoor events for the Ecospirit Adventure Club. His day job keeps him busy working as a Network Manager. He is the co-founder and race director of Suburban RUSH.
Ms. Shawn Leclair, Co-Founder & Site Director:
Shawn loves running, mountain biking and traveling. In her pursuit to experience life and push her boundaries she has completed Test of Metal, 24 hours of Adrenalin, and Sea2Summit. Shawn has jumped out of a plane solo, para-glided off a 3000 metre mountain in Turkey, took up rock climbing and jumped off a cliff, all in the name of conquering her fear of heights.
She is a recreational athlete that was inspired by the exhilaration and determination she saw at the finish line when supporting friends. Her first adventure race in Fall 2003 was a 2 day stage event and she has gone on to complete several more races since then, even hitting the podium in an all women's category.
Shawn has a background in event management and communications and has organized successful runs, walks, galas, adventure races, conferences and more.
